Canal Street in downtown New Orleans is one the most popular locations in the city for tourists when considering where to book a room. Its central location and its proximity to restaurants, shops, and the business district makes it the reason that many top-notch hotels are situated here.

As of recently, the emergence of new boutique hotels has made its presence here on Canal Street. By doing so, it changes the dynamics into an area that was for many years predominantly chain hotels into a place with more diversity and individuality. These boutique hotels attempt to capitalize on choosing a distinct theme or personality. They attempt to tell a story or bring to life a certain feeling. The Saint Hotel is definitely one of these hotels.

Some might think that the hotel's outrageous decor is a bit over the top but I very much enjoyed the element of surprise that you feel when walking around. No one can dare call this place boring or dull. It's bright colors and unique furniture will keep your attention and pique your curiosity.

This oversize chair along with the other furniture in the lobby gives the hotel a fun, whimsical element.

The parlor area near the entrance of the lounge/bar is very colorful and dramatically decorated. It is a great place for people to hangout and have a few drinks while enjoying the pool table.

The irony that I found existed with the hotel theme is even with all of the color that is present, an element of darkness prevails. Intrigue and mystery most certainlyarticulated. I was not so much interested in the temptuous theme but instead captivated by the colors and the element of surprise.

The entire bar is bright red in color with very outlandish floral carpet. The picture here does not do this room justice. It is a definite must see. Again, it might be a little over the top, but I think it definitely stands out and makes a huge statement.

Long draping red curtains provide the perfect backdrop for the stage in the bar area and give it a dramatic theme. Live music can be seen here on any given night.

Visiting the Saint Hotel was an inspiring experience. The vivid colors that were all around the hotel were truly amazing. I was able to have fun exporing the hotel and have the opportunity to take some fantasic photos. Each different area of the hotel attempted to tell a different story. The decor and furniture were so dramatic giving it a theatrical feeling like you are in some sort of narrative, right in the middle of the story that is being told.
